Working in a team parody~

There were four people called Everybody,
Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was
an important job to be done. Everybody was
sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody
could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it
was Everybody's job. Everybody thought
Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that
Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that
Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody
did what Anybody could have done.

A fansubber's Nigthmare!!!

Seriously right now i can't download any raws and it kills me that i have such a thing called "internet limit". I mean really Australia is so very behind on technology that we either have to pay and arm and a leg for unlimited or in my case pay $100 for 240GB which is not much for a family of 5 who lives, eats, and breaths internet!

Anyways... for a translator i would think this would be a bitch, but i'm just an editor which has it's perks ~ though reading an .srt file and looking for mistakes and errors is a b*tch and a whole lot boring without access to a video file!

Also from this day forth i shall be known as Loco Moco!

An Ode to Fore (a Korean translator in H2S)

in the drama “GLORIA", a drama subbed by H2S)

I know a guy named fore,

who translated the song “Indian Doll”.

He then asked me to look at the lyrics,

“Please check whether they are lyrical and poetic.”

Be careful of Fore when he translates,

As an editor, I often have to adjudicate.

Being a Man, he doesn't do girl-speak,

He uses "broad" for woman, or just "chick"!

Now, this dedicated and diligent guy named fore,

he’s often around, and quickly answers all our calls.

Although all stressed, there is no hysteria.

He’s all cool but sometimes groggy, due to insomnia.

You have to be careful of this guy named fore.

His initials are “H-J”, if you want to know.

When you are not alert, he likes to pull your leg.

And if you're caught, he will laugh “kekeke!”

I like this guy named fore.

He makes me laugh to my core.

After a hard day, and I can't sleep,

His humor does away my counting sheep.

Confessions of a Fansubber

So many nights, I cry myself to sleep,

after watching a drama good enough to keep.

I am a fool for crying over karma,

I can’t help it; I love Korean drama.

I proudly tell my friends I am a drama addict,

not drugs, coffee, nor an exercise freak.

My love for actors and actresses are but a bleep.

Most times, the crush is fleeting or only skin-deep.

But please, don’t ”shoo!” me when I come your way,

babbling about obsessions, or ranting about storyline decay.

My love for Korean drama has carried me further,

for I turned from drama freak to fansubber.

With glee, while editing, I oogle at my latest crush,

so long and so hard, if you catch me, I’d blush.

And now I would like to get this off my chest.

As a fansubber, I need to get some rest!

Many a night I spend toiling over words,

so H2S’s subs would come out nice and pert.

And if I do some time delay,

please cheer me on, so I can stay

a fansubber through and through.

Impatient words only make me blue.

Comments comments comments

Comments have been swarming at our main site, haru2subs.com once we release a really really popular drama's subtitle. To name a few over the last few months of 2010, Playful Kiss, Coffee House & God of Study. (Don't worry, this post isn't about bragging, it's about me as a fansubber's grateful words to generous people.) Since then, I'd be on standby to accept comments, since if some you may haven't noticed, for your comments to be seen by the others, admins will need to accept it. That's why after commenting you would see, "Awaiting for moderation" on top after commenting. Being on standby waiting for comments to be accepted, there are all sorts of kinds. The decent one's which are usually just a sweet "Thank you!", we some have the long thank you's (which btw, we love to read those kinds! We totally appreciate it!) with a little story on how they appreciate the subtitle, of course it wouldn't be normal if naggers wouldn't be around and ask if when will the next subtitle would be out, we also have comments with a thank you plus a question attached & spam posts which we really really hate.


Just by seeing those comments, we truly feel the appreciation and we get really flattered and have the will to continue subbing despite the haters. Thankfully, the people who are patient are a lot than the haters. If ever you hesitate to comment on a certain drama page you love a lot, because you might think that we aren't reading them & just accept them out, you're wrong. These comments are important to us. We use comments as basis to see the people's opinion about our work and the show itself. We try to read them one by one, and if there are questions, we try to answer them right away!


The comments section for us has a very precious value because that's where we can read how you feel. We always ignore those impatient people because they don't know what we are resulting to just to release decent subs! That's why, I commend those people who, some I already know, takes a little time off getting the subtitle and post a short message on how much they appreciate fansubbers like us! We give you a big hug and thank you for posting out comments when we are very much aware that you're very eager to watch the show right away! hehe.


My stack of All About Marriage subs are already looking at me, will soon commence work on them, don't worry!

Subs as a Delicacy

I was just thinking of how yummy subs are. Without subs, my life of drama watching would be incomplete.

So I have come to a conclusion that subs are a delicacy in my life. I feel subs are a special treat that bring a smile on my face when I'm sad or happy. What ever the case, this delicious treat of subs calls out to me and I partake.

Let's imagine these subs are a delicious treat. The oven is on; the cookies are baking. Which kind of partaker describes you best?

Are the cookies already done and on the racks cooling and you then go over and grab a cookie and partake of it in the corner where no one can bother you or you won't bother them?

The subs are out and you are thankful to partake but you shy away from expressing your thanks not knowing quite what to say or not thinking you'll make a difference, so you go partake unknowingly but you sure hope your thanks is felt.

Are the cookies already done, just out of the over and not quite cooled, but you're right there to greet them as you like cookies best when their gooey and warm? Where's the person that made the cookies. You want to thank them and patiently await the next batch to get out, all gooey and warm again.

The subs are done... just out on the blog, you're following twitter and facebook, so you are aware of it before too much time passes. You feel the necessity to greet your subs with a vote of appreciation. You don't mind sharing this appreciation with a comment and waiting for the next release to make itself known with time.

Maybe you just can't wait. Are the cookies still in the oven, you've already had one from the last batch, but you're awaiting the new batch? You want one right now... why can't these cook any faster? They should be just as good even if they're pulled out of the oven 3 minutes earlier. Who cares if they're unediable to other people. You at least get to partake.

You're not only following twitter and facebook, you're asking to use other people's cell phones, to check the status while you're away from your computer. And while at home, you don't know how many more times you could refresh the page where the drama subs just have to appear one of the times. Why aren't they magically appearing you ask yourself. If they were just completed a little quicker, who cares if we take a few minutes away from the last editing. Some other people may want grammar to be checked and timing issues to be sorted out, but hey, I just want to watch my drama.

Thank you to all the dedicated fans of fansubbers! Go ahead, partake! However you partake, we'll still be baking!

First diary entry of a fansubber ^^

First of all... Please do not forget that we, fansubbers, have a life too! We're not lazy bums hanging out on the net! We spare quite a valuable time from our own life, sacrificing from our sleep, possible longer dinners, lunches and even holidays. For what? Just to receive a mere "thank you" from fans of the drama (or maybe just the cast) we're subbing.

But you know what... It's just more than enough... For most of us... ^^



Actually for me, just to have a chat with my subbing buddies that would last only 4-5 lines in forum's shoutbox is more than enough. I received more than I had given...

Fansubbing, an endearing thing to do.

It's really quite shocking if I may go back to my memory lane, a very unexpected thing had happened already. If I may remember back then, when I was some unaware movie/drama freak, I had no sort of idea on who's behind all of these Captions that are really useful that are found on a movie, I'd always complain whenever no 'Subtitles' would appear on a show I'll be watching, I get really irritated. Until the world of being independent had happened. How funny it is that I found my way through these glorious people creating subtitles for no-profit at all. I had to say that they are either, people with no jobs, no life or no families. But I guess, I was totally wrong!

Fansubbing is a delight to the people working behind it, a close bonding between your team members exists, developing one's vocabulary along the way, learning new things [for a Korean drama subbing team, we learn new Korean words from our friendly Korean Translators] and one amazing thing also is that how people from different countries form a sort of 'alliance' to create such amazing craft for thousands of people to use.

Now, just to inform the amazing supporters of HaruHaruSubs, we bring to you this website as a way of being informed on how do your favorite fansubbers, survive a day with a subbing task in-hand. That way, everyone would be able to appreciate more how and what fansubbers are like. Like any other people outside in this world, we can describe ourselves as through these characteristics:

• We basically love Korean Dramas
• We have families too!
• About 70% of our staff are not that fluent with Korean,
  but we have the passion to learn about it.
• We dedicate our spare time through fansubbing.
• We all work as a team and an individual effort is just selfish.
• Oh and last but not the least, some of us really really loves
  to sleep after a hard day of both fansubbing and real-life work.
